you’re a man

you’re a man
you’re a man
you can’t understand

you do
what you do
it’s all underhand

you’re a man
you’re a man
you won’t understand

the pain
the strain
to be secondhand

you’re a man
you’re a man
you’ll never understand

coz a man is a man
is a man
is a man

      • that is very true but I think that sense of targeting was also happening long before #MeToo which in part served to up the levels of needless attrition between men and women. But can a man also write what could be called a feminist poem? Or a poem from a woman’s perspective? Some would likely sneer and say no but I would disagree. All dialogue is good if it brings about change and greater equality and understanding. The playing field is still far from level.

      • Agreed. I try to explain to my husband that what we refer to as patriarchy is not men. It is a mindset that has devalued women, and therefore, all. Every voice/mind/ creative spark is needed to change the tide.
